The importance of being honest on your job application

When completing a job application it can be very tempting to tell some ‘white lies’ on the form, whether it be over egging the experience you have or even lying about qualifications, however this really is not a good idea for a number of reasons.
It’s always worth bearing in mind that it’s likely that the information you put on the application form could be brought up at interview stage so you should be prepared to explain and evidence any information on there. If a prospective employer suspects that you have lied on the form or been a little fast and loose with the facts then you could find that your application will be thrown out due to an instant lack of trust.
The best option is to always be truthful on the application and show how your previous experience evidences the characteristics that they are looking for to fill the role that they are advertising. If you don’t have direct experience than state any transferable skills that you have to satisfy any outstanding points on the job role.
