Interviews can be a mixed bag. Some are informal, some are incredibly formal, some are just a chat whereas some require lots of work on your part. It can be hard to know what to do for the best as a candidate. Here are some tips:

• Make the employer feel like they are getting value for money with you. Emphasise the value you can add to the organisation and reinforce how you achieve results.
• Be yourself. Don’t say anything that isn’t true to yourself. Show the employer your natural friendliness and openness.
• Dress well. You don’t have to wear the most expensive suit or designer shoes. Make sure you are smart.
• Go prepared. Know some information about the organisation and have plenty of ideas about how you could fit into it.
• Ask questions. Make sure you show your interest in the role by asking all about it and having a clear understanding of it.
