A CV is basically a document that records all your qualifications, past and present jobs and experience. There are other elements that are included such as your personal details and often hobbies. People sometimes wonder how long a CV should be.

Recent research has shown that it depends on the country you are in and the type of industry that the job post is in as to how long it is expected to be. For example, in America, usually CV’s are expected to be no longer than one page but in the UK two pages is more acceptable if needed.

I always think it is best to try and keep your CV down to one or two pages and bullet point information. With the competition for jobs at the highest it has ever been, companies are getting inundated with CV’s and therefore do not have the time to read pages and pages of information about one candidate. List the most important skills / qualifications and experience that you have that applies to that role, just enough to intrigue the reader.
