Working your way to the top

Some people think that to get to the job or position that they want to they will have to work for a few different companies and leave when the right job comes up. This is one way of progressing up the employment ladder but have you ever considered staying at the same place long term and trying to work your way up that why? If you are working for a company that does not offer the type of job or career that you want then this may not be possible, but for many the opportunity may already be there. If you can prove yourself to your manager or the business owner and have a good relationship with them then they are more than likely to not only be happy for you to try and progress up the ladder but will often encourage it. In some ways this may actually mean that you get to the position you want quicker as when you move to another company everything is new; and you are new to them so it will take some time again to build up the trust and relationship you had with a previous employer.

If you are considering leaving to go to a new job, why not speak to your current employer and tell them what you have been offered and see if there is anything they can offer you that would.
